BREAKING: NASA reveals a beautiful image of the cosmos showing El Gordo, a 'cosmic teenager' as scientists call it, that existed 6.2 billion years after the Big Bang and it is considered the most massive cluster of its era.
Above, you can see two images, Box A and Box B, representing two of the background galaxies magnified by El Goro. This cluster has a gravitational pull that acts like a magnifying glass and thus, bends light from distant bodies behind it.
Using its powerful infrared sensitivity, the telescope marked a ground-breaking moment in astronomy, spotting a red giant star within, the first of this kind to be observed over 1 billion light-years away from us.
If we take a closer look at Box B, we can see El Anzuelo, also known as The Fishhook, which has been formed relatively shortly after the Big Bang, since light needs approx. 10.6 billion years to reach Earth.
The telescope gazed intently, peering through the thick veil of cosmic dust to witness firsthand the wondrous spectacle of stars being born and galaxies coming together.
That's it for now. Let's hope this month is full of 'fruitful' things coming from Webb!
